Maintenance
There is little maintenance required. It is recommended to clean the blade after each use.
After cleaning it is recommended to oil the sickle, and store moisture-free. If you notice that the sickle is cutting less well, you can sharpen it using the Okatsune whetstone (Okatsune 412).
The difference between 404 and 405 is the thickness of the blade.

A Great Review on Instagram from @mercian.woodsman: “I’ve been trying out the Okatsune sickle (kama) a lot recently, and it’s a great tool. It’s dealt with comfrey, nettles, even tough dried out stems, grass and whippy hedge growth. There are a couple of ways to use it, hacking or gently pulling it through a bunch of stems. I just wish there was a safe and comfy way to carry it on a belt.”
