Gransfors Bruk Splitting Maul

GRANSFORS BRUK SPLITTING MAUL

The powerful Gransfors Bruk Splitting Maul – your ultimate companion for splitting thick and knotty chunks of wood. Crafted with precision, this maul features a concave and thin blade at the bit, enabling quick and effortless cutting into the wood. As the broader section pushes apart the wood, the Maul effectively splits it, making your task easier and more efficient.

With its weight and sturdy poll with beveled corners, this Maul is perfect for striking a wedge. While similar in design to the Larger Splitting Axe, it boasts a slightly longer poll. The handle is equipped with a protective steel collar below the axe head, providing added durability. Circular grooves towards the end offer an extra firm grip, ensuring precise control during use. Notably, the Splitting Maul is the heaviest axe produced by Gränsfors Bruk, delivering unmatched power for your splitting needs.

When you choose a Gränsfors Bruks axe, you invest in superior quality and durability. Each axe comes with an exceptional 20-year warranty that covers both the head and handle, providing you with unparalleled peace of mind.

AXE MODELS

We are often asked about what type of axe to choose. When selecting your axe, it becomes crucial to determine its intended purpose. Are you planning to use it for chopping wood in the forest or constructing a log house?

The main difference between axes is the edge. Most commonly, the edge faces the direction of travel, parallel with the handle. There are also axes where the edge is perpendicular, although these are less common. Examples include Gränsfors Bruk’s Straight Adzes and Gutter Adzes.

A typical chopper is Gränsfors Bruk’s Splitting Axe, which has quite a thin edge but a much broader and thicker poll. This helps to split the wood apart. A prime example of a carving axe is Gränsfors Bruk’s Carpenter’s Axe. This has a long, thin and straight edge with a straight, pointed bevel face and a narrower poll, which makes it perfect for carving. The Carpenter’s Axe is not suitable for heavier work such as tree felling and log splitting. The pointed angle of the blade is not designed for that.

In today’s world, people primarily use axes as tools, and they can be categorized into three main groups: Forest Axes, Splitting Axes, and Log-building Axes.
